Our public television credits include Co-Producer of the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning PBS series A Chef’s Life, and Executive Producer of A Craftsman’s Legacy. Artemis Independent has managed promotion efforts for over a dozen series/films each year, including Retro Report on PBS, American Documentary/POV, Family Pictures USA, Roadtrip Nation, Reel South, Pearl Jam 20, and many more. In addition, Artemis Independent and Hogwild Films co-produce the ‘boonies’ series presented by UNC-TV.
The Artemis Assistant serves as a support staff for the national Artemis Independent team. The position is a mixture of creative thinking, community engagement, and administration. Through writing, photography, and a bit of graphic design, the Artemis Assistant helps develop content with the local High Country community as well as our list of national clients. The Artemis Assistant provides administrative support through data entry, maintains records and organization, and assists with special projects as needed.
Administrative Duties & Staff Support
Maintain a clean and welcoming office space
Perform weekly routine maintenance and spot cleaning
Ensure office is kept well-stocked and well-supplied
Run bank and postal errands
Organize and update client and organizational files
Schedule conference calls, appointments, and support meeting logistics
Develop and support social media strategies on a variety of platforms including, but not limited to: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter for the ‘boonies’ and Artemis Independent brands.
Develop and maintain annual, monthly, and weekly social media calendars
Generate, edit, publish and share promotion (original text, images, video, or HTML) that builds viewership and encourages community members to engage
Create thoughtful and organized social media posts a week at a time
Continuously record trends and insights by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights, and best practices. Provide data-driven suggestions to the overall social media strategy
Alert Artemis Independent staff of all communication and developments that occur on various social media platforms
Develop social media marketing campaigns, as necessary, including identifying goals, researching ad prices across platforms, and preparing a proposal to review with the Artemis Independent Team
Support and draft e-blasts (using Emma Email Marketing System) and postcards for station relations campaigns
Update the website as needed
Update Google Carriage Reports weekly
Review station websites for new airdates
Review TRAC media data for new airdates
Conduct data-informed research projects for clients and organization as needed
Anticipate client needs and act proactively in offering support
Provide timely communication
Support the growth and development of the ‘boonies’ series
Conduct and write interview features on pre-approved individuals, organizations, and businesses
Promote sponsors on Social Media
Create, develop, & maintain social media and online brand presence for certain clients (assist or lead, depending on client)
Build and execute social media strategy through research and marketing methods unique to each platform and target audience
May be asked to support special projects as a Production Assistant, such as assisting crew and carrying out errands as needed

This position reports directly to the President and collaborates with different members of the Artemis Independent staff. All work performed on behalf of AI is owned by the company. Any written work you produce will be credited to your authorship.
This position is located in our Boone, North Carolina office.
Comfort with technology
Familiarity with social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
Familiarity or interest in social media tools like HootSuite and Canva
Proficiency in working with the G Suite for Business
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Able to stay abreast of company projects and priorities through email
Reliable and punctual; cognizant of project deadlines
Able to work on multiple projects and priorities at a time
Adhere to Artemis Independent Policies & Protocols as provided
Commitment to upholding the integrity of the Artemis Independent brand
Behave professionally and with consideration of the time and space of others
An interest in public media
Bachelor degree strongly preferred but not required
This position is part-time; an estimated 20-30 hours during the week with the opportunity for expanded hours and role within the first year. Artemis Independent works to offer an equitable compensation package. Wage is commensurate with education and experience levels. Work will be reviewed and evaluated annually. Employees are eligible for an annual merit increase. Opportunities for bonuses may be available. Additional benefits include:

In addition, you will be provided with a company-owned computer, hardware, and software and such other technological resources necessary to perform your job responsibilities. You will have open access to Artemis Independent’s Boone facilities. A failure to return your computer, company hardware or other company property upon separation may result in legal charges.
Nature of Employment:
This is a part-time contractor “exempt” position under the Fair Labor Standards Act, meaning that you are not eligible for overtime under state or federal wage law. Employment with Artemis Independent is on an “at-will” basis, meaning it can be terminated by you or Artemis Independent at any time, for any reason, without notice. As a condition of employment, you are expected to comply with all applicable Artemis Independent policies and procedures as may be adopted from time to time.
The Artemis Independent Assistant will be compensated as a Contractor-At-Will. You are responsible for providing Artemis Independent a monthly invoice on the last business day of the month. Payment will be issued upon receipt. As a Contractor-At-Will you will receive a 1099 Statement by January 31st and are responsible for payment of your own employment taxes.
Paid vacation time is not available for Contractor-At-Will positions. Artemis Independent Contractor-At-Will associates are expected to comply with Vacation Policies & Protocols.
